The film is set in the 80s in South Africa, with the apartheid regime at its peak. The ANC (African National Congress) carries out an armed struggle against apartheid and it is clear that the country has reached a point where change is inevitable. President Botha, however, is trying to stay in power, but holds secret talks with Nelson Mandela.
The British mining company Consolidated Gold believes that a peaceful solution would be in their interest and invests a secret meeting between the different parties.
